What is closed nose surgery?
Nose aesthetics, known as closed rhinoplasty, has become one of the most preferred surgical techniques in recent years. Unlike open surgery, closed technique does not need to open the nose skin and soft tissues in the nose. The nose is not just formed by bone, cartilage and skin. There are interconnections that provide softness, mobility and make it look smooth. With this technique, both the skin and soft tissue are damaged less and the surgery is performed without cutting the ligaments. For all these reasons, the healing process of the patient is shortened. There is no scar after the surgery. Closed nose surgery is applied to every patient group including revision surgery and deviation surgery.
How is closed nose surgery performed?
In closed nose surgery, all incisions are made through the nostrils. In this way, as in open rhinoplasty at the tip of the nose, no suture marks occur. General anesthesia is generally preferred in closed rhinoplasty. The operation takes approximately 2-2.5 hours.
The patient is kept in the hospital one night after surgery. The patient's face is less bruised than open surgery. Facial swelling is normal. After closed surgery, the plaster is removed on the seventh-eighth day. The gypsum mentioned herein is not a known gypsum. It is defined as thermoplastic sprite. Most of the time, a silicone leaf-shaped tampon is placed inside the nose. These are removed on the third-fourth day. In general, the patient's age, skin condition, health conditions, smoking and smoking affect the healing process. When all the conditions are normal, the patient should be treated. At 12th-13th weeks it appears as if there were no surgeries perfomed on the patient. The full recovery process takes 6 months.
There is a belief among the public that nasal drop can be seen after closed rhinoplasty. This is extremely wrong. There is no such risk if done in expert hands.
What are the advantages of closed rhinoplasty?
- No scarring.
- The healing process is faster.
- Skin and soft tissue are less damaged.
- It is possible to provide an image as if there was no operation after the operation.
What are the points that the patient should pay attention to after the surgery?
It is recommended that the patient should lie slightly above and above the head for the first two days after surgery. The purpose of this is to prevent bruising and swelling of the face, to ensure that the blood goes to the head less. Ice treatment is also recommended for the first 2 days. The first two days the patient should not sleep on their left or right, and glasses should be worn for 4-6 weeks. The bands should not be soaked for 7-8 days.
